Fatal injuries in drunk driving accident lands driver in prison

Many of our Virginia readers spend time traveling through neighboring states both for business and pleasure. Just the same as local roadways, you never know when somebody could make a mistake that leads to an accident.

Recently, a 31-year-old man who was involved in a fatal head on accident in August 2012 was sentenced to two to ten years in prison. According to police, the man had a blood alcohol content level of .379 when his truck crossed over the center line, causing an accident that led to fatal injuries. His blood alcohol level was more than 4.5 times the legal limit in the state of West Virginia.

As a result of the accident, one woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Along with her, two passengers were injured in the head on collision. This story goes a long way in showing how dangerous it is to drink and drive. Even though this accident occurred almost two years ago, it is just now that the man who caused the accident has been sentenced.

There is a good chance that this collision could have been avoided if the driver would have avoided getting behind the wheel after drinking alcohol. Instead, he decided to drive despite the fact that his blood alcohol level was more than 4.5 times the legal limit.

It does not matter if you are injured in such an accident in Virginia or another state, if this is the case it is always a possibility to consult with a personal injury attorney who knows the ins and outs of the law.
