Hit-and-run driver leads police on chase after collision

A high speed police chase resulted in an accident in Virginia Beach. The incident happened a little after 2 p.m. on Monday, when police chased down a female driver allegedly involved in a hit-and-run accident. Authorities say that the fleeing woman was operating a Mercedes when she fled from an accident scene without even checking to see if anyone had been injured at the crash site.

Not 30 minutes later, police located the hit-and-run driver, who was traveling down the roadway with a flattened tire. Although police tried to pull the woman over, she continued to speed away, which resulted in a high speed chase.

It was not until the woman entered Naval Air Station Oceana and crashed into another vehicle that police were able to stop her. Under police custody, they transported the female suspect for treatment at a local hospital but there still no word as to the severity of her injuries.

When a driver flees the seen of a car accident in Virginia Beach, the fact that he or she was a hit and run driver could help injured parties pursue financial claims relating to their injuries. Although fleeing an accident scene will not contribute to an individual's injuries sustained in a collision -- unless failure to tend to victims causes their injuries to worsen -- the negligence associated with such behavior will no doubt help to bolster any other claims against the at-fault driver, simply by illuminating his or her recklessness. Indeed, when it comes to being injured in a car accident, plaintiffs who are hurt due to no fault of their own need to have as many chances to recover damages as possible.
