When people board a party bus, they are expecting to have a good time. Unfortunately, this was not the case in Lorton, Virginia, over the weekend, due to a crash that killed one person and sent others to the hospital for treatment of injuries.

The bus was transporting 16 passengers as well as the driver when it flipped over on I-95. Police have reported that nine of the people on the bus were ejected as a result of the accident. According to the Virginia State Police, a 31-year-old man was the person who caused the bus to overturn on the interstate at approximately 3 a.m. in the morning.

The group was leaving a club in Washington D.C., heading for home in Woodbridge, Virginia, when the accident occurred. Witnesses have noted that they saw a white car traveling down the highway at a high rate of speed when the vehicles collided. As a result, the bus ran off the road, striking the guardrail and eventually overturning.

While some of the passengers were being treated at the hospital for broken bones and other injuries, one of the people on board died.

The man who caused the accident has been arrested for felony hit-and-run, and is currently being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

It is not uncommon for trucks and other commercial vehicles to be involved in accidents; however, this one was serious enough to kill one person and injure many others.

These types of incidents often call for the assistance of a personal injury attorney. Those who are injured or the families of those who are killed in such accidents have a right to seek compensation. This type of lawsuit is filed in the civil court system and is not dependent on whether the at-fault party is criminally charged.
