Alleged drunk driver causes crash in Virginia Beach

A Virginia Beach car accident resulted in one person being transported to the hospital. According to authorities, an allegedly drunk driver smashed into another car and then flipped upside down early Tuesday morning. The incident happened shortly before 4 a.m. in an apartment complex off Providence Road.

When news reporters arrived on scene, they found two damaged cars in the parking area. The car that suffered the most damage had a crushed door and a smashed windshield. That was the second car in the crash — or the car that the allegedly drunk driver struck. The second car’s driver said that he was struck after the first car went airborne off a curb. The same car ended up hitting one of the walls of a building in the apartment complex.

When authorities arrived on scene, they did not immediately find the driver of the first vehicle. Later, they found him walking in the street. Emergency personnel checked the medical condition of the man and transferred him to the hospital. Police investigators suspect that alcohol and speed played an important role in causing this crash. The crash is still being investigated by the Office of the Commonwealth Attorney, and the allegedly drunk driver who caused it had not yet been charged.

When criminal charges are brought against an at-fault driver in a Virginia Beach automobile accident case, it will usually help injured parties, should they choose to pursue personal injury damages relating to a case. Such damages might include money to pay for medical care, money for pain and suffering, attorneys fees, interest and other kinds of damages.
