Police investigators are looking into a traffic incident in which an allegedly intoxicated man hit multiple cars and a pedestrian before he was eventually apprehended. The female pedestrian suffered serious injuries that required hospital care.

According to a witness, who narrowly escaped getting hit by the motorist himself, the motorist was driving a black Honda quickly down Holland Road in Virginia Beach, and was in the process of turning left onto Lynnhaven Parkway when the car almost struck him. The pedestrian said that his life flashed before his eyes, and he thought it was the end for him, but he was lucky to escape unharmed. Later, the pedestrian discovered that the driver struck two cars and a female pedestrian, before the incident that nearly claimed his life. The driver reportedly went on to hit another car before he was arrested.

The 47-year-old run-away driver required hospital care as well, and witnesses reported that his face appeared bloody. He has since been charged with DUI, DUI maiming, and three counts of felony-level hit and run. If convicted, he could be sentenced to years in prison.

Virginia Beach residents who suffer injury at the hands of a negligent, unlawful or reckless motorist may have the legal right to receive financial compensation for their injuries, suffering, the cost of their medical care and — depending on the facts of their cases — a lot more. In order to gain a sense for their legal right to recover compensation, injured parties may want to discuss the facts of their accident and injuries with an experienced personal injury attorney who can advise them of the best next steps to take in pursuit of justice.
